Dr John Edmond is a proud Scot, born and raised in a small village outside Edinburgh. He studied medicine in Bristol, before undertaking his cardiology training in the South West of England. Following a fellowship in Green Lane Hospital, Auckland he became a Consultant Cardiologist in the NHS in 2008, before moving to Dunedin with his family in 2014.

John is an Interventional Cardiologist who is trained in general cardiology. He enjoys all aspects of cardiac care, from primary prevention to complex interventional problems. His special interests are CT for the assessment of cardiac disease, management of acute coronary syndromes and aspects of quality improvement in cardiology practice.

Outside of the hospital, John enjoys the great outdoors, especially cycling and walking in the summer, skiing in the winter and fishing all year round.

John works in the public system in Dunedin Hospital, including a regular general on-call and interventional on-call commitment.

John works with the team at Mercy Care East and Heart Watch services to provide a full private cardiology programme. The scheduling is organised by Sandra, and the investigations by Wendy Finnie.
